RSTC-61F2F - 1 day course duration
Intended for
Plant fitters, engineers and any person who needs to be assessed as competent to assist and recover a colleague who is suspended at height from a structure
Introduction
This is a physically demanding practical training course which is designed to ensure that plant teams are able to rescue colleagues from positions outside of a platform, gantry, scaffold or similar structure
The course looks extensively at using bespoke anchors to secure the worker at height and needs to be delivered in such a way as to expose the delegates to open structures
Subject modules
- Awareness of height safety legislation
- Generic and specific risk assessment for fall/retrieval situation
- Orthostatic intolerance
- Equipment approvals and selection of appropriate harness/ lanyard
- Limitation of equipment
- Scheduled inspection periods and record management
- Pre-use inspection of anchor points, harness, lanyard, retrieval devices
- Correct donning and fitting of equipment
- After use care of equipment
- Implementation of the rescue plan
- Inspection and use of AG10 ‘A’(hoist) device
- Inspection and use of rescue extension pole
- Inspection and deployment of bespoke anchors
- Traversing an exposed structure and security of the rescuer
- Attaching to a suspended load and lowering to ground level
Entry requirements
DELEGATES MUST HAVE PREVIOUSLY ATTENDED THE RSRC1046F2F WORKING AT HEIGHT EQUIPMENT USER COURSE AND HOLD A CURRENT CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY
PROSPECTIVE DELEGATES MUST HAVE TOTAL FLUENCY AT BOTH SPOKEN AND WRITTEN ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND BE CAPABLE OF GENERATING AUDITABLE DOCUMENTS IN ENGLISH
Assessment method
Assessment will be carried out via a written exam at the end of each module PLUS the completion of a PRACTICAL based exercise during the course itself
