Live Electrical and EV Safety Equipment
In terms of electrical safety, the priority is to be able to work with an electrically dead state, which is achieved with the use of Electrical Lockout Equipment, but this is often not possible. Therefore, when working live, it is incredibly important to take necessary precautions to avoid injury by electrocution; this can be done by ensuring you have the correct Ladders and Platforms, Switchboard Matting (also known as Carpets) and Shrouding and Insulating Gloves and Boots. It is also necessary to be prepared for accidental life-threatening incidents with Rescue Panels, Rescue Hooks and Kits to be able to intervene without risk of injury to the rescuer. In situations where an incident has occured it is beneficial if you have the necessary emergency rescue medical equipment at hand to prevent the situation escalating.
Electric Vehicle servicing and repairs have introduced new hazards in to the motoer industry where they fall under the Electricity at Work Regulations due to the high current power systems with power pack voltages now creeping over 1,000V. The batteries can break down, either through damage or natural failure, and this leads to Thermal Runaway and fires that are self-fed to keep burning with temperatures up to 1,600 degrees C. Our Temperature monitoring device keeps a close eye on unsupervised batteries under repair, whilst our fire blankets are there to contain a fire and allow safe emergency interventions.
