Control Rate Descenders (CRD); A simple to use device that will lower a person to the ground, at a constant rate, without manual intervention. The Skylotec Milan is the most popular CRD currently on the market, used extensively in the wind and telecoms industries. These rescue kits are pre-packed and ready to use in case of emergency. They may be simple kits comprising a CRD and an anchor sling, or a more versatile pack containing additional pulleys and slings, allowing a casualty to be moved before lowering them from height. More complex versions may include a clip stick or reach pole, as in the Spanset Gotcha kits, which allow a rescuer to clip the rescue device to a suspended casualty from afar.
